Lowdown:
For better or worse, Tom Keaver and Tom Brause probably have more to do with introducing the beat into beat music than anyone else. Keaver is a veteran of the Ceder studio system, known as a sound effects man but in fact, something of an innovator in electronic music. Brause, a dozen years younger and looking like a baby, has moved from Worksop to Berlin to London to Nottingham, working as a folk singer, and session musician, and is becoming more and more interested in beat sculpting.
Their debut album “The Middle Way” twists a broad spectrum of elements to create hip-hop founded electronics that relish the use of hazy samples and spiraling rhythms. Landing somewhere between Dabrye, Lukid and BOC, 'The Middle Way' is drenched in the sound of a youth spent locked in the studio - crafting the kind of intricately plotted instrumentals that unfold with textured detail, yet never hurry their slow-burn predilection.

Lone - Cluster Dreams E.P. Digital Version Available Now
Added: 26/02/2009
Digital E.P. Available Now From Bleep or direct from the Dealmaker
12" Vinyl Available in stores worldwide from June
In the summer of 2008 Lone came out of nowhere with his 2nd album of Kaleidoscopic, shimmering hip-hop instrumentals, "Lemurian”.
With it's lovingly crafted textures and sun-stroke melodies (not to mention deliciously dope drums) the album seemed to encapsulate the sound of forgotten childhood holidays, utilizing faded lounge-esque samples sounding like they had been lifted from warped cassettes which had spent too much time out in the sun on a car's dashboard.
The response the album generated was incredible, with praise coming from artists like Daedelus, Rustie, James Holden and end of year love coming from XLR8R, Bleep, Boomkat and Kode9 all rating the album in the best of year round ups.
Since the release of "Lemurian", Lone has been exploring a new sorta spaced-out Electrofunk/Disco angle with his music - Fans of Dâm-Funk, Hudson Mo and Sa-Ra are sure to absolutely love it!!
The E.P. is a natural progression for Lone whilst stepping it up for the dancefloor with possibly the funkiest bass line of the year on 'Fly Fire Rainbow'. Cluster Dreams is also complimented with an astounding remix of 'Midnight Feast' by Warp’s latest signing - Bibio.

2008 Nationwide Mercury Prize – Knee-Deep In The North Sea; An Album of the Year

"Sound like nothing you’ve ever heard” Time Out
“A phenomenon in the making” The Independent
“A strikingly original sound." The Times
Portico Quartet are four young musicians from South London who sound like nothing you’ve ever heard before. Living and playing together they describe their ethos as like an Indy band that plays post-jazz, and their unique sound has won them fans from Gilles Peterson to Radio 4 and Notion to BBC Music Magazine, and made them Time Out’s Jazz, Folk and World music album of the year.
"The shuffling breaks and jazzy atmosphere are expertly constructed" - Q Magazine
Red is a 27yr old Turntablist/Beatbox maestro from North London. His debut album release 'Fingerprints', released last April on Dealmaker was received with critical acclaim, attracting an enthused fan base across the globe. The single Seen became the soundtrack to a Europe wide Sony PSP advertising campaign shortly before a video clip of a performance of skratch anthem (filmed on a handheld in his bedroom stoods) went to no.1 featured video on Youtube, displaying his unique and cutting-edge method of tune creation. A jaw dropping performance of live layering and looping that is not to be missed.
The Natalie Duncan Band
Natalie Duncan seems to be attracting praise like flowers attract bees. Her blend of jazz, blues, folk and soul is now backed up by a band consisting of nationally respected classical and jazz musicians and her jaw-dropping live performances have silenced the rowdiest of crowds. Signed to Farmyard Records she is currently recording her debut album and has been widely touted as a future star.
